Julia Fiona Roberts was born in Atlanta on October 28, 1967 in the home of Betty Lou Bredemus and Walter Grady Roberts. She comes from the fourth Roberts family that been a resident of Atlanta. This began with her great grandfather John Pendleton Roberts who was farmer. Her father's passion for theatre was inherited by her. in theatre from an early time. While a student at Emory University he appeared in various productions both on and off campus. In 1953, he enlisted in the Air Force. While stationed in Biloxi in Mississippi, he appeared in a production together with Betty Lou Bredemus. Eric Anthony was their first born. They got married in the year 1957. In 1957, the couple quit the air force and Walter began his studies at Tulane University in New Orleans Louisiana. Walter became a member of Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio when the family moved from Atlanta to Decatur in Georgia in 1960. Walter along with Betty Lou started production in 1964 on the children's local Saturday morning TV show Bum Bum and His Buddies that they self-funded. The Actors and Writers Workshop was established in 1964 and lasted for six years. They also had Lelisa Billingsley (also called Lisa) and Julia (also also known as Julie) during this period.
